If your site is in or near a city, then there may be good enough satellite imagery for you to make an accurate permaculture base map with Google Earth Pro. Its a quick and easy way to make a base map at the start of a design project.

At the beginning of a permaculture design project I will print off a number of these maps and mark them up on site while I am surveying and doing the client interview. In practice I will bring my map into a photo editing program before printing to lighten the overall colour and save ink while printing.
